They say the best things come to those who wait! If that’s true, then current and future residents of Tucker Hill are poised to see some of the biggest changes and growth since this single-family community broke ground in 2007.
Located in McKinney, Texas, Tucker Hill is a new home, traditional neighborhood development modeled after developer Southern Land Company’s award-winning Westhaven community located in Franklin, Tennessee. Tucker Hill boasts the same historically reminiscent architecture, nostalgic front porches, emphasis on lifestyle and resident events, and exceptional horticulture that have become the standard of an SLC community.
Residents recently celebrated the opening of their Residents’ Club which features almost 4,000 square feet of both furnished indoor and covered outdoor patio space. Built adjacent to their current resort-style pool that features a zero-entry area and splash fountains, residents now have a café kitchen space and a gathering area for parties and meetings. The Dutch Colonial-inspired design compliments the architectural styles found throughout the community and will be joined in the future with the construction of a separate Fitness Center.
Other community amenities already in place include a private dog park, two playgrounds (with one geared towards toddlers), a pond with nearby fire pit, a “Lawn Chair Amphitheatre” which plays host to outdoor concerts, and “Founders Square” – home to a majestic wrought iron fountain.
Resident and public events round out the list of amenities found at Tucker Hill as our Lifestyle Coordinator plans several private resident events each month. Marketing continues to host two to three public events per year that provide guests with the opportunity to glimpse into what life is like for those living in Tucker Hill.
Phase 4 lots will feature lots sized from 41’, 46’, 56’ and 69’ across. Square footage will range from 1,800 to over 4,000 square feet. Prices will start in the low $400s. This phase includes a generous amount of new open space, including an inviting central landscaped square and a linear greenbelt that fulfill SLC’s commitment that residents will have no more than a 5-minute walk to access green space. All of the homes built in this phase will continue to feature the coveted front porch which helps set Tucker Hill apart from other DFW area communities. As part of this new phase will finish out the northeast portion of Tucker Hill’s borders, SLC will also develop a portion of the future paved hike/bike trail in conjunction with the City of McKinney’s master plan. The remaining routes for this hike/bath trail will be completed as future phases are developed.
Several opportunities for immediate move-in also remain in Phase 3 with not only Darling and SLC Homebuilding, LLC, homes, but also with David Weekley Homes, who is closing out within Tucker Hill. Prices start in the low $400s and square footage ranges from 1,800 to over 3,500 square feet.
By the fall of 2017, Tucker Hill will also see the opening of “Harvard Park.” This project will be an almost 40,000 square foot, three-story commercial development situated on Highway 380 between the two main entrances of the community. By being so close by, it will fulfill the Traditional Neighborhood Development concept by giving residents the ability to choose walking or bike-riding to access the merchants.
As the primary anchor, Keller Williams McKinney will move into approximately 18,500 square feet of second floor space and will be joined by two title companies and a bank, which will also feature a drive-through. The project has been designed and is being built by Dallas-based Crown Sterling Properties, who purchased the site from SLC. Upon completion, the building will officially be owned by The NASH Group. The architectural plans for this building look and feel much like something you would find in an historic town square. Much thought and collaboration has gone into a design that reflects the same architectural standards found in Tucker Hill. The building will feature a shaded, roof-top meeting space, substantial parking, and landscaped areas for added appeal. Space is also available for at least one restaurant, one coffee shop that includes a drive-through component, and perhaps an independent medical office.
Tucker Hill is located on beautiful rolling land set back on the north side of U.S. 380 (West University Drive) between Custer and Ridge Roads. We are only 5 minutes from either Highway 75 or the Dallas North Tollway, making commutes to area attractions easily accessible. We’re just far enough away from Dallas to provide a respite from the pace and frenzy of the big city, yet close enough to let residents take advantage of all that Dallas has to offer.
